Frequently
asked questions about
fiberglass
pools
 | Q. Are
Fiberglass Pools easy to maintain?
|
 | A. Yes,
Fiberglass pools
have smooth non-porous walls that resist annoying algae formation and make
cleaning easy. Fiberglass is smooth but not slippery, the steps and bottom
are textured. You don't have to worry about bloody toes from being in
the pool to long.
|
 |
Q. Is
Fiberglass strong and durable?
|
 | A. Yes, Fiberglass pools are the only
permanent pools made. They actually get stronger every year.
Fiberglass is 17 times stronger than concrete and can flex a full 12 inches,
which is very beneficial in earthquake prone Southern California. You
may have recently noticed gas station tanks being replaced from concrete
tanks to
tanks designed similar to fiberglass pools. These pools are very
strong.
|
 | Q. Are
Fiberglass pools made like Corvette car bodies?
|
 | A. No,
Corvette car bodies are not hand laid, but made by spraying fiber of fiberglass with
resin onto a mold with what is commonly called a chopper gun. They are
not designed to have the kind of strength fiberglass pools have. They
also don't use the kind of gel coat used for making pools because they don't
have the ability to withstand continuous submersion like a pool. If
they were made like our pools not only would they weigh a lot more they would
also be extremely difficult to break.
|
 | Q. Do Fiberglass pools
pop out of the ground?
|
 | A. No, One gallon of water
weighs 8.3 pounds, on a typical 15,000 gallon fiberglass pool that equals
over 100,000 pounds. It is impossible for a pool full of water to pop out of
the ground. There are more concrete pools that pop out of the ground
than fiberglass pools because you have to frequently drain them for
maintenance (paint, re-plaster, or acid wash) You never have to drain a
fiberglass pool for maintenance.
|
 |
Q. How much do
Fiberglass pools cost compared to concrete pools?
|
 | A. Fiberglass pools may cost a little more,
however the advantages will more than pay for the difference in cost.

SO YOU USE LESS ACID AND CHLORINE.
|
 |
SMOOTH NON POROUS FINISH WILL NOT ALLOW ALGAE TO ATTACH ONTO ITS WALLS
(LIGHT BRUSHING WILL REMOVE ALGAE EASILY).
|
 |
SURFACE REMAINS CONSISTENTLY SMOOTH, NO RESURFACING OR ACID WASHING.
|
 |
A SMOOTH SURFACE OF NON ABRASIVE MATERIAL. NO BLEEDING TOES AND FINGERS
OR WORN BATHING SUITS.
